Quasi-perpendicular collisionless shocks

The investigation of shock phenomena was realized by numerical simulations with a 1-D particle-in-cell (PIC) code and comparison with Cluster observations. Two main questions were addressed: (a) the accuracy of the Liouville mapping across the shock, and (b) the shock reformation. Findings related to the Liouville mapping were communicated by Comisel and Scholer (2008, 2009a, 2009b, 2011) and will be reported in an upcoming publication. Results relevant for the shock reformation were published by Comisel et al. (2011) and communicated by Scholer et al. (2007), as well as Scholer and Comisel (2009a, 2009b, 2010, 2011).
